Save Minnesota fundraising reaches $1,198,000

PERM (Proper Economic Resource Management) is a non-profit conservation club dedicated to promoting balanced solutions to natural resource management issues. The campaign to "Save Minnesota" was initiated by Bud Grant and PERM. A goal of $1.5 million was set to protect the interests of sportsmen, property owners, small businesses, and other concerned citizens in Minnesota Indian treaty lawsuits.

As the Mille Lacs and Fond du Lac Indian treaty lawsuits have made their way through the courts, the volunteers for PERM have continued the effort to insure the strongest possible defense is put forth.

Your continued support is important. We still have a small bill remaining on the Mille Lacs lawsuit, and the Fond Du Lac Band's hunting and fishing rights case in Northeastern Minnesota is still ongoing. We are in the process of developing arguments on the Indian Claims Commission Act which is an essential step in getting back to the Supreme Court to reverse the Mille Lacs decision. Our efforts to educate the public and our elected officials about what is at stake costs money too. No other organization is as well equipped as PERM, to fight for your rights.

If you care about your freedom, property rights, voice in government, quality of life, and pursuit of fish and game, you had better join PERM today!

The Red Door Walleye Tournament Donates $1,180 to PERM!

Thank you once again this year to the folks at the Red Door Resort and Motel on the north shore of Lake Mille Lacs for supporting PERM with a portion of the proceeds from their annual fishing tournament. For great year-round walleye fishing, and that hot north shore musky action, call Fred at the Red Door!

The PERM Booths Generate $3,000 at the County Fairs!

A special thanks to Leonard Shafer and the rest of the PERM volunteers who staffed the booth's this year at the county fairs. This year we had booths at the Isanti County Fair in July and the Aitkin and Crow Wing County Fairs in August. PERM volunteers passed out information and sold PERM merchandise to generate income for our programs.

1st Annual PERM Walleye Tournament Raises $550!

On July 22, 2000 PERM, in conjunction with the Flagship Inn on Mille Lacs Lake, held our first annual Walleye Tournament. We want to thank Joe Karpen, Mike Steele and the rest of the volunteers who worked to make this fun event a financial success. A special thank you to the Flagship Inn for hosting the event for us!

PERM's 5th Annul Golf Tournament Clears $4,700!

On August 26, 2000, the weather was great, the golf course in excellent condition, the prizes wonderful, and the dinner delightful. On top of having a great time, the golfers raised $4,700 for PERM programs. We want to thank Hidden Haven Golf & Supper Club off Highway 65 in Cedar, MN for hosting our event. The course, the food and the service could not be topped. They also donated a whole host of golf related merchandise and gift certificated for our event. We also want to thank Lisa Mueller, Bob Oie and Pete Malherek for all the hard work they did organizing this tournament. If you're a golfer, you had better sign up for this event early next year. Based on the feedback we've received, it may fill up early!

PERM's 8th Annual Fall Auction Generates $26,000!

The Saturday after Labor Day means it's time for the PERM Fall Auction and Pig Roast. The annual event at Karpen's Sunset Bay Resort on Mille Lacs Lake is one of the biggest fundraisers for PERM. Thank you to every one who donated and purchased items at the auction. Thanks to all the volunteers who worked several days in preparation for the event. Thank you to our auctioneers, Harvey Hazeman of Onamia and xxxx. Please give them a call if you're ever in need of an auctioneer. And finally, a special note of thanks to Joe and Marty Karpen for hosting our event again this year. We pretty much take over the resort each year for this event, and we are deeply grateful for their hard work and generous understanding.

Muskie Tourney Donates $500!

PERM would like to thank Paul Hartman and the Minnesota Mille Lacs Muskie Tournament for donating $500 from the annual muskie tournament in August.

Karpen's Patrons Chip in $170!

Thanks for all the support over the years from the patrons at Karpen's Resort on Mille Lacs Lake. This year in addition to all the raffles and PERM stuff they buy at the resort, they chipped in $170 from their annual fishing contest in August.
