Save Minnesota fundraising reaches $1,216,000

PERM (Proper Economic Resource Management) is a non-profit conservation club dedicated to promoting balanced solutions to natural resource management issues. The campaign to "Save Minnesota" was initiated by Bud Grant and PERM. A goal of $1.5 million was set to protect the interests of sportsmen, property owners, small businesses, and other concerned citizens in Minnesota Indian treaty lawsuits.

As the Mille Lacs and Fond du Lac Indian treaty lawsuits have made their way through the courts, the volunteers for PERM have continued the effort to insure the strongest possible defense is put forth.

Your continued support is important. We still have a small bill remaining on the Mille Lacs lawsuit, and the Fond Du Lac Band's hunting and fishing rights case in Northeastern Minnesota is still ongoing. We are in the process of developing arguments on the Indian Claims Commission Act which is an essential step in getting back to the Supreme Court to reverse the Mille Lacs decision. Our efforts to educate the public and our elected officials about what is at stake costs money too. No other organization is as well equipped as PERM, to fight for your rights.

If you care about your freedom, property rights, voice in government, quality of life, and pursuit of fish and game, you had better join PERM today!

PERM's Mille Lacs Lake Area Committee enters float in local parades!

This past summer, the Mille Lacs Lake PERM members entered a float in the local parades. A hay rack was donated by Dickie's Portside, and the decorating was done by Cindy, Joe and Sara Manning, Bee Steeber and Gayle Goltz. Arnie Sandin, Rod Schultz, Bee Steeber, Gayle Goltz and Irene Manning all road on the float dressed in costumes representing the various user groups of our public natural resources. Informational handouts were given to parade watchers by Pat Sandin, Vicki Schultz, Tom Manning and Nancy Manning and the float was pulled by Gordie Goltz. Thanks to the volunteers from the Mille Lacs Lake Committee who made this all possible.

PERM's 6th Annual Deer Hunter's Supper Generates $3,900!

Hundreds of hunters stopped in for a hearty meal on their way up north the Friday night before the Minnesota firearms deer season. We had a small silent auction and several raffles in addition to the great food! Thank you to all the ladies who baked pies and cakes for dessert. And a special thanks to Justin Schmidt who prepared the dinner.

PERM's 4th Annual Brainerd Area Fundraiser clears over $8,500!

The Old Waterfall on Hwy. 371 north of Brainerd was the place to be on Saturday, December 2, 2000. A crowd of about 200 gathered to have some fun and support PERM. A dinner featuring chicken and roast beef was provided by Lakeland Catering and the food was great! We had both a silent and a live auction. Tom Katt was our master of ceremonies. There were several gun and other special raffles, as well as a good supply of door prizes featuring a gas-powered snow blower from Mills Fleet Farm! Thank you to all the area businesses who donated cash and merchandise to make this event possible. And congratulations to event coordinator, Hank Dombovy, for putting together a fun and successful fundraiser!

Art Guimond (L) shows of the Winchester M94 30/30 rifle he purchased on the live auction at Brainerd, to event coordinator Hank Dombovy. This rifle, specially engraved and hand crafted with a silver inlay for this event is one of only a hand full that have been individually done for PERM events by award winning engraver, Roger Sampson.

PERM Makes $1,800 at the St. Paul Ice Fishing Show!

Thank you to Pat Doroff for volunteering to run the booth and thanks to all the volunteers who worked with Pat too. We handed out newsletters, answered questions about treaty rights issues and sold some wildlife prints and other PERM merchandise to raise money.

Several exhibitors at the show donated merchandise for our fundraisers. Pictured is Celeste Colson from Jake's Northwest Angle Resort on Lake of the Woods. The good folks at Northwest Angle Resort donated an Ice Fishing trip for our Annual Metro Area Fundraiser in February.
